Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) – Full Movie Review, Ending Explained, and What’s Next in the MCU
The First Family Reimagined
Marvel Studios finally delivers a Fantastic Four film that lives up to the hype. First Steps skips the overused origin story and dives into a bold, emotional, cosmic adventure.
Set in an alternate Earth (828), the story focuses on Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny—an already formed team living in a retro-futuristic world. When Galactus arrives demanding the child of Reed and Sue, the fate of their world hangs in balance.
This is not just a superhero movie. It’s a cosmic family drama—with sacrifice, redemption, and the birth of the most powerful being in the MCU yet: Franklin Richards.
Story Recap (With Spoilers)
Galactus, the world-devourer, arrives on Earth‑828 demanding one thing: the unborn child of Reed Richards and Sue Storm. He claims this child, Franklin, possesses cosmic potential that could either save or destroy the multiverse.
Reed, refusing to give up his son, activates teleportation “bridge towers” to relocate their planet away from Galactus’s reach. However, Galactus’s herald—Silver Surfer (Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal)—sabotages their efforts.
In a touching subplot, Johnny Storm (Human Torch) learns Silver Surfer’s tragic backstory and reaches her emotionally. She ultimately switches sides and helps the team.
In the climax, Sue Storm gives birth during the battle. Galactus begins breaching the last portal. Silver Surfer sacrifices herself to push him through—dying a hero.
Sue, drained by the fight, dies in Reed’s arms—but is resurrected by Franklin Richards, who releases a mysterious cosmic force upon being born.
